OLD WORLD ELEGANCE
Katie and John exchanged vows under a lush floral arch in a seaside ceremony between the Montecito Hills and the Gaviota coast. The wedding ceremony and reception took place outdoors under a brilliant Santa Barbara sun overlooking the Pacific Ocean at The Bacara Resort & Spa.
The couple's wedding stationery is a reflection of the Old World romantic elegance of Santa Barbara. They sought to capture the essence and beauty of the coastal city with a classic color palette and luxe details.
The invitation and enclosures feature warm gold script on earthy white artisan paper much like the bright sun bleached stucco buildings of Santa Barbara whose interiors are seamed with glossy brown wooden accents. The monogram is the focal point of the invitation and is repeated in the wax impression that seals the suite. The intricate line work on the monogram is reminiscent of a Medieval engraved print with its horizontal lines of varying thickness.
Each invitation is wrapped with a deep magenta silk ribbon the color of the local bougainvillea and finished with a wax seal imprinted with their monogram. The wedding program and cocktail napkins feature the exquisite monogram in deep magenta and gold foil.
SAVE THE DATE: CUSTOM WATERCOLOR MAP
Hand painted watercolor Save the Date maps introduced and oriented guests to the area by highlighting points of interest near The Bacara Resort & Spa including Westmont College, The Mission, and Stearns Wharf.
Bright magenta bougainvillea hems the edges of the map and the walls of the city itself. Bougainvillea, the climbing pink and green evergreen vine thrives, softens edges, and serves throughout southern California as a natural emissary between the outdoor and indoor. Save the Dates were tucked into envelopes lined with matching pink liners that highlighted the beautiful floral watercolors.
It was an honor to create the stationery and day-of paper details for Katie and John's gorgeous seaside wedding along the American Riviera. The romance and timeless beauty of Santa Barbara's architecture, Mediterranean flora, ocean views, and wine vineyards make it the perfect place to begin a new journey together.
